It was a gorgeous day in Avador, the capital of Scythera. The sun was out with only a few big white fluffy clouds in the sky. The Fen’ra menace had not reached this continent, but with their defeat and today being the day of King Sebastian’s wedding there was plenty to celebrate this day.

Seb was in his suite, finally alone for the first time today. Kirsi had woken him up and then she and Zoe had been by his side until just a few moments ago. He had the windows open in his suite, just standing by them enjoying the fresh air and the comforting noises of the city. Seb was working on his breathing exercises, clearing his mind to center himself when he heard the door open and close behind him.

“Well…look at you.” Neph said.

He turned to see her beaming. “Look at me? Look at you! So beautiful.”

“Mmhmm.” She hummed amused, walking over to him.

“Hang on.” Seb held up a hand to stop her. “Is the mom of the groom allowed to see him before the wedding?” Neph gave him a ‘your not funny’ look. “This is my first wedding after all.”

“Your only wedding.” Neph stressed, stepping over and reached up to needlessly busy herself with his tie.

Seb looked down at her hands. “You taught me how to dress.” He teased.

“Yes well, someone has to care for you like a mother should.” She huffed.

“Good thing she’s here then.” Seb said.

“She’s here?”

“Hells if I know. Stopped by the other day to ask if I was sure about this.”

Neph furrowed her brow and pursed her lips at that.

“Doesn’t matter.” Seb told her. “She may have given birth to me, or created me, whatever she did. But the man I am. The reason I am who I am today is because of you.” Neph smiled softly. “My first love has been and will always be you, mom.”

Neph sniffed and scrunched up her face to fight back the emotion. “Sebastian.” She tried to use her motherly tone.

“I may not be from you, but I am glad that I am who I am because of you.”

“Sebastian.” She said more sternly, tightening his tie to distract him from talking. “You are getting married. Your focus should be on that amazing bride of yours.”

Seb smiled. “As much as today is about looking towards the future it is also about appreciating how we got here. I love you, Neph. I could not have asked for a better mom.”

Neph reached up and caressed his cheek. “And I, a better son.” She pulled his head down so she could kiss his forehead. “I am so proud of you, Seb.” They watched each other for a moment. “Now. Enough about us. Let’s go get you married.”

“No lipstick right?” He checked reaching up to rub where she kissed on his forehead.

“You are quite the fine looking King.” She assured. “Now shush. Come on.” Neph took his hand and headed for the door.
