Our first strip. Actually one of a very few that was drawn first then written. Background inspiration for panels 2 and 3: Flaviobolla and SnowSkadi over on Deviantart.
The Sovereigncy One
The Sovereigncy 1
Everything in this strip was original to the script except for the final two panels. Those were added on in the drawing process.
The Sovereigncy 2
Maddie getting entangled in the vines has made it into Cross’ top ten favorite panels of The Sovereigncy.
The Sovereigncy 3
The Sovereigncy 4
We tried several colors for the projected screens before landing on the blue. It suited the look and was much easier on the eyes than the other options.
Even though it made for a short scene, we decided to cut the two, feeling this scene was best made to stand alone.
Ah Isabelle. Like most of the characters in The Sovereigncy, she is from a RP, though her origins are different here, she’s got special meaning to Cross.
The Sovereigncy 8
There was actually supposed to be a stand alone ‘photograph’ to go along with this scene, featuring Seb and Maddie standing by the coffin with Jake and Bella almost off camera. Unfortunately we never got around to getting it done.[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
This is one of those rare ‘Cross had an idea and wanted to do it’ scenes. Drawing it first then adding in the dialogue. Kris supplying the dialogue for the last seven panels.

This was a mess. Aly is awesome. But it took forever to get her look right, and it never happened in this scene unfortunately. Background inspiration for panel 1: Deviantart’s jonone
Ah the Draconis. Cross like’s drawing dragons, though technically this one SHOULD be an ‘energy dragon.’
This was the first time I looked at a finished piece and thought ‘wow that looks actually kinda pretty.’ ~ Cross
Had no idea how to do a Nebula, and wanted to throttle Kris for writing it, but it came out pretty good. Also the glow in the pool, a photoshop addition. ~ Cross
Maris’ first appearance, was really fun to do. Though the last panel is still my favorite of the scene. ~ Cross
The Sovereigncy 21
The script called for this press conference to be inside the palace. But I had this awesome image of a city I wanted to use, so outside it went. ~ Cross
The Sovereigncy 23
Bella at the end there, really enjoyed doing that one. I love emotionally charged images, always hope they come out. ~ Cross Photo reference for the stairs: Deviantart’s faestock
Here Kris thought I should have had Seb’s laughing fit last two more panels. He was right. I should have. ~ Cross
